Step 8 is safari.
It is always helpful to have an idea of what to expect before you go somewhere new. We cannot take the time here to tell you every last thing about Kenya. But we can give you an idea of what it will be like to a large degree.
When you get here, you will be very tired and jet lagged. We try to help you beat jet lag by running you hard the first day so you do not fall asleep till the sun has fallen. Here are somethings you will do one the first day:
- You will be able to exchange currency once you are here.
- You will be outfitted with a Gospel Safari shirt and a journal. The journal will be for you to record the things you see God do on your trip. You will forget so many of the details. It can be helpful to write these things down. There will also be an opportunity to share your reflections in a group testimonial time at the end of your trip.
- You will take a tour of the city on which we will orient you to Gospel Safari.
- You will visit the Rift Valley where we will bathe the Safari in prayer.
You will spend the weekdays at schools, Lord-willing, two schools a day. On some of the week nights, we will be joining local churches for prayer meetings. On the evenings where nothing is planned, we will be doing group Bible studies and group prayer. Local church groups will be able to customize this part of the Safari to do something to their liking.
On Saturdays, there will be three options: rest, animal safari ($100), or participating in youth camp. On Saturday, instead of going to students, we bring them to us using one day youth rallies. You can keep ministering by being a part of these.
On Sunday, your group will be at Kenyan churches, ministering. If your group has musical talent, please prepare songs or instrumentals ahead of time. We will have pianos at most of our churches for you to use. If you are not musical, we love you just the same! Any musical specials can be used at churches, youth rallies, and the schools.
That is pretty much your week. If you are staying more than week, you will just be repeating the same schedule but at different places.
